Origin of the Beni Meskine
Beni Meskine tribes of different origins. They came Azemmour (Ouled El Fares Halla) Tafilalet (El Khnansa), Moulay Driss Fez (Lakrakra Ain Blal) and Tadla (Ouled Amer and Blessed Khloug). It is believed that the name of Beni Meskine come from Meskine Ben Jaber, son of one of the 5 Jaber Ben Gilan and are Ayat, Amir Moussa, and Meskine Mellal.
Geography
Beni Meskine region is Elbrouj part of the great Chaouia(Settat). It is bounded to the west and northwest by tribes Ouled Sidi Bouziri and Ouled Ben Daoud and south by Oum Rabia river which separates Sraghna and Rhamna. On the north are Mzab and Ourdigha and east there Beni Amir and Beni Moussa. This is mostly plateau with an average altitude of 800 m. The situation between the Atlantic and Middle Atlas gives the character the continental climate; cool in winter and hot in summer. The land is typically stony.
Administrative division
The Beni Meskine are divided into two groups:
* The group of Ouled Naji: consisting of Ouled El Hala Fares, Lakrakra,Meskoura, Ouled Bouali Enouaja and Ouled Amer. These are the towns of Beni Caïdat maskine East.
* The group of Ouled Ali brings rural towns of Beni Khloug, Sidi Boumehdi, Sidi Ahmed Elkhadir, Dar Chafaï,Ouled Freiha and Aïn Blal and forms the Caïdat Beni Meskine West.
